Habanero #Pepper Experience

As the Fall Equinox was upon me and the Super Harvest Moon has already passed, I thought that it was only right that I harvest my Peppers during this special time of the changing of the seasons. I took a video and even though it’s kind of embarrassing I’m going to be adding it to my channel I’m going to call “Short & Spicy” with videos under a minute. Anyway, I wanted to share with you Dear Reader my experience with one of the most beautiful plants that I’ve ever grown. With my Red Savinas on the way, I was really anxious to know what these peppers were going to taste like, and I can tell you this Dear Reader, they were definitely as hot as I thought that they were going to be, with a bit of surprise. The Habanero Pepper comes in on the Scoville Heat Unit at around 2-300k.

Eating this Orange Habanero made me realize the potential fruitiness of a Pepper pod(giving me a lot of inspiration on future hot sauce recipes!). At first, I thought that it was just going to be heat with not much else but crispy flesh on outside. But I was wrong. As the juice of the capsicum spread throughout my pallet I was a bit over-whelmed with sensation of a deep fruity flavour as I chewed it. I believe that the description that is commonly used is “floral”.

After this, however, there was nothing but pure heat. As it progressed, I could actually feel my tongue start to numb. Even though it was as hot as I thought it was going to be, I really think that after the initial burn, it was quite enjoyable! These pleasant peppers gave me the hiccups!

Thank you Dear Reader for your time. And know that I’m doing this Short and Spicy review as I am training to eventually eat a Bhut Jolokia/Ghost Pepper. Why someone would eat one of those is still very strange to me, but I guess it is as they say, “Don’t knock it ’till you try it”! Cheers!

These are some Orange Habaneros that were gifted to me by the person standing in the background there. Thanks Dirt!
